Glock is tried and true, you can't go wrong with them. XD is a bit more recent but it seems equally as good. I personally, don't like the XD. Grip safety was uncomfortable, and in my hand the weight was unbalanced. Glock take down can be done in literally 2 seconds, XD is about 10. I shot the XD terrifically, especially as a newbie. I noted the features on the XD that were lacking on the Glock (ambi mag release, grip safety, chamber loaded indicator, striker-cocked indicator). And I went w/ the XD. I couldn't see paying more and getting less. XDs are at least as dependable as Glocks.

I've recently picked up a xds in 45 for summer carry. Glock makes a great gun and I really tried to like them.
